Women’s Soccer Loses Heartbreaker At Home Against Limestone; 1-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – After 89 minutes of solid soccer by both teams, Limestone was able to take advantage of a hard tackle to score in the final minute of the match, handing Anderson its first home loss and its first South Atlantic Conference loss of the season. The Trojans (5-2-3, 2-1-2 SAC) dropped the heartbreaker, 1-0, to SAC foe Limestone (7-2, 4-2 SAC) on Wednesday evening at Spero Financial Field.

"I'm proud of the effort tonight," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "It was a solid defensive performance with great leadership from Sarah Miller. We had them on their heals in the second half and I wish we could have put one away, but we'll learn from this and will be better as a result."

A well organized Saint's team owned time of possession in the first half of play. Anderson's relentless back line was able to stave off multiple runs which included nine shots with four coming on goal.

The Black and Gold were able to settle in and flip the possession script for the second half of play. Anderson kept Limestone's attack off balance and had several opportunities to possibly put one in back of the net.

With time winding down and possession in Anderson attacking third of the field, Limestone was able to gain possession and with only a chasing defender and the goalie to beat. Limestone's Tabea Schutt was able to capitalize on the great opportunity to score the game-winner for the Saints.

Anderson's senior keeper Jeanette Campbell was credited with eight saves on the evening.

Anderson will head north to play new SAC member Emory and Henry on Sunday. Kick-off is slated for 3 pm.
