Women’s Soccer Tabbed Eighth In South Atlantic Conference Coaches’ Preseason Poll; Campbell, Miller Earn Preseason Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C - Anderson University women's soccer has been predicted to finish eighth in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

The Trojans finished 6-9-1 overall and 3-7-1 in the SAC during the 2021 campaign, narrowly missing the SAC postseason tournament. The Black and Gold did end its season with a, 1-0, road victory at Coker.

Catawba has been selected as the favorite to win the 2022 SAC Championship, earning 11 first place votes and a total of 121 points. Lenoir-Rhyne picked up one first place vote earning a total of 111 points for a second-place prediction. Carson-Newman landed in the third spot with 98 points. Wingate was slotted fourth while Limestone was voted fifth. Lincoln Memorial grabbed the sixth spot with Newberry claiming the seventh slot. Anderson lands in the eighth spot with Tusculum, Coker, Mars Hill and Emory & Henry rounding out the final four positions of the SAC 2022 Preseason Poll.

Senior Jeanette Campbell earned second team All-Preseason after a solid season between the posts. Campbell started all 16 matches, recording 112 overall saves, finishing the season with four of her five victories as shutouts.

Senior Sarah Miller garnered third team All-Preseason after starting all 16 matches a season ago. Miller anchors the team and her leadership from the midfield position has been vital for the Trojans. The native of Cincinnati, Ohio scored the game-winner against Emmanuel to push the Black and Gold past the Lions for a nonconference victory last September.

Anderson opens its 2022 campaign on its home pitch versus Shaw. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm at Spero Financial Field.
