Belmont Abbey Blanks Lady Trojans

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Danielle Kubinski scored at the 30:37 mark and Belmont Abbey's defense did the rest as the Crusaders took a 1-0 victory over Anderson University in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday night at Smethers Field. The victory improves league leader Belmont Abbey to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference. Anderson falls to 6-4, 3-2. "I am very proud of our defense," said Anderson head coach Jason Dowiak. "Our defense kept us in the match. When we get possession, we need to be more confident with the ball." Kubinski's goal came off a restart. Stephanie Leotti took the kick from the deep right wing. The ball bounced twice in the box and Kubinski managed to get to it and score the lone goal of the match. Belmont Abbey goalkeeper Anna Donaldson earned the shutout without facing a shot. Anderson goalkeeper Kelli Whitfield made six saves. Anderson University Women's Soccer Statistics
