North Georgia Survives Inspired Effort By Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Lauren Schenk picked up a loose ball and scored from 15 yards out a the 86:19 mark to give North Georgia a 1-0 victory over Anderson University Wednesday night at Smethers Field. North Georgia, 4-0 overall, has yet to allow a goal this season. Anderson falls to 2-2. "We played really well," said Anderson head coach Jason Dowiak. "I think that's the best we've played all year. But certain players didn't work as hard as others and that's why we gave up the goal. Ninety percent of the team gave one hundred percent. We need one hundred percent of the team to give one hundred percent." Anderson's defense, led by Lisa Taylor and Whitney Branch, frustrated North Georgia's attack the entire match. The Saints had 13 shots, but just three of the shots were on frame. North Georgia goalkeeper Jessica English made five saves to earn the shutout. Anderson used crisp passing to the outside and pinched the middle on defense. Schenk's goal came after the ball bounced around in the box. She collected it and blasted it into the upper left corner. "We didn't finish our chances," Dowiak said. "If we finish, it's our game. But we did a lot of positive things tonight." Anderson University Women's Soccer Statistics
