Mollenhauer Qualifies For The 2024 Paris Olympics In 3x3 Women’s Basketball

HONG KONG (China) - One of the most decorated Anderson University athletes, former women's basketball standout Alexy Mollenhauer (2020) qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics along with her teammates (Tiffany Hayes, Dina Ulyanova and Marcedes Walker) on her FIBA 3x3 basketball team. The 6-0 forward will be representing Azerbaijan which Mollenhauer has dual citizenship.

The Tokyo 2020 Games marked 3x3's Olympic debut which featured

the eight best teams from all over the world in both men and women. The athletes participated for five days in the Aomi Urban Sports Park downtown Tokyo. The 3x3 in Tokyo was a huge success with fan support of the fast-paced game growing around the world.

Paris 2024 Olympics

Dates: July 30 - August 5, 2024

Venue: The 3x3 event of the Paris 2024 Olympics will take place on the iconic Place de la Concorde, which is in the heart of the French capital. Place de la Concorde is the largest public square in Paris, located nearby Grand Palais, Champs Elysées and The Louvre.

Paris 2024 hopes to welcome up to 37,000 people daily for competition as well as entertainment, all taking place at the Concorde Urban Park.

3x3 basketball will share the same venue with Skateboarding, BMX freestyle and Breaking. The open arena - which can host 5,020 spectators - will be able to show 3x3 can generate one of the most exciting atmospheres in sports.

Azerbaijan defeated Poland in the final in an overtime nail-bitter, 18-17. Mollenhauer received a lob pass in the paint and finished off the bucket to score the winning point and secure the victory.

Azerbaijan joins China, USA and France as the teams through to the Paris Olympics, who had already marked their place, based on FIBA 3x3 Federation ranking.
