McDowell Named To The 2023-24 Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Southeast Region Team

YOUNG HARRIS, GA. – Anderson University women's basketball junior Diamond McDowell earned a regional honor by being named to the 2023-24 Division II Conference Commissioners Association second-team All-Southeast Region Thursday afternoon.

The Asheboro, N.C. has scored in double-figures 20 times and 19 games with eight rebounds or more. McDowell averaged 16.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. She recorded 15 double-doubles on the season and has accumulated a total of 35 over her three-year career.

The 6-2 forward has scored a career 1,166 points and continues to move up the ranks in several categories on Anderson's all-time list. McDowell ranks third (563) defensive rebounds, fourth (854) total rebounds, fifth (291) offensive rebounds and sixth (108) in blocked shots.

To end regular season play, McDowell scored a career high 40 points, ripped down 13 rebounds, recorded five steals and four assists in 30 minutes of action to help lead the Trojans to a win over Tusculum. For her efforts all season, McDowell was named SAC Player of the Week on four occasions while garnering All-SAC First Team honors.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Southeast Region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA all-region teams. The process concludes with All- American selections announced later in the month.

The Trojans open up NCAA Southeast Region action today versus South Atlantic Conference foe Wingate. Tip-Off is slated for 12 pm at host Catawba in Salisbury, N.C.
