Anderson Pulls Away Late To Defeat Nonconference Opponent Lander; 70-60

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Despite scoring below its season average (82.5), Anderson women's basketball (9-2) remained poised and eventually pulled away in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter to put away an athletic Lander (7-3) squad on Tuesday afternoon at Finis Horne Arena.

"Road wins are never easy, so very thankful that we were able to get one today, said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "Looking forward to having a few days to rest and reset for our tough conference games to start back up in the New Year."

Anderson reserve Martyna Radzicka hit her second three-point basket of the contest, just under the four-minute mark in the fourth period, to help erase a Lander five-point lead. The Trojans were able to take the lead for good at the 2:10 mark and eventually extend it to a final margin of 10 points by making 8-of-9 foul shots down the stretch with senior Zamiya Passmore hitting 6-of-7.

Senior Nelliah Wilson's complete effort throughout the contest helped keep the Trojans in the game. Wilson recorded her fourth double-double of the season while ripping down a career-high 15 rebounds, scoring 13 points and equaling her career block total with four.

AU's Passmore scored a game-high 23 points which included 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Passmore also dished out five assists, grabbed three rebounds and was credited with two steals. Graduate Brittney Stafford netted 19 points and chased down seven rebounds. Stafford was perfect from the free-throw line hitting all seven attempts.

Lander placed three players in double-digit scoring with Tanyia Gordan leading all Bearcats with 15 points on 7-of-16 shooting.

Anderson will enjoy a two and a half week break before returning to a full South Atlantic Conference slate beginning on Jan. 6th at Mars Hill. Tip -off is scheduled for 2pm.
