University of Central Florida Uses Big Fourth Quarter To Pull Away From The Trojans; 96-73

ORLANDO, FLA. – Playing its third game in a four-day span, Anderson University women's basketball (2-0) fell to Division I opponent University of Central Florida, 96-73, on Monday evening at Addition Financial Arena.

"Really proud of the team on this business trip, three games in four days" said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "The team fought hard until the very end and we had fun playing basketball."

"We are really looking forward to coming back and playing at home this weekend," added Barbaree.

Anderson trailed by just two points at halftime, 40-38, after the Knights narrowly won the first quarter of action, 25-23, while tying the second period, 15-15.

The Trojans led 58-55 late in the third quarter, until a push by the Knights put UCF up by four, 65-61, heading into the final frame.

The Knights were able to pull away from the Black and Gold during the fourth period creating a double-digit lead with 8 minutes to go. UCF was able to hold and slowly increase the margin to 23 points.

Anderson placed four players in double-figures with senior Nelliah Wilson recording a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. AU's Zamiya Passmore scored a team-high 17 points while recording five steals and four assists. Sophomore Ashlyn Sheridan netted 16 points and grabbed five rebounds, while junior Diamond McDowell chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds and swatted three shots for the Trojans.

UCF placed six players in double-figures with Kaitlyn Peterson leading the charge with a game-high 18 points.

Anderson will return to the friendly confines of the Abney Athletic Center on Friday when it hosts Young Harris. Tip-Off is slated for 7 pm.
