SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Led by senior Katie Eskew's three-day 271, the Anderson University women's golf team finished ninth at the three-day Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship, hosted at the 5,817-yard, par-72 Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn.
Wingate (325-334-337=996) claimed the wire-to-wire team victory by a comfortable 17-shot margin over runner-up Coker (330-340-343=1013), which moved into second. Newberry (340-331-344=1015) and Carson-Newman (339-341-335=1015), which battled back and forth for the fourth spot over the three-day event, tied for third. Queens (340-329-357=1026) dropped from second following Monday's final round to fifth, while Catawba (340-343-344=1027) remained sixth.
Tusculum (334-351-371=1056) also stayed steady in seventh, with LMU (349-348-365=1062) remaining in eighth. Anderson (369-356-370=1095) held the ninth spot for the third consecutive round, with Lenoir-Rhyne (379-362-372=1113) in 10th and Mars Hill (374-382-384=1140) finishing 11th.
Wingate's Johanna Neumann (78-79-74=231) claimed individual honors by seven strokes over Catawba's Madison Kennedy (78-79-81=238) and by eight shots over Coker's Taylor Dembry (77-83-79=239).
Eskew (92-85-94=271) claimed a share of 33rd, while junior
Natalie Feder (94-88-93=275) continued to climb in the standings
over the final two rounds and finished in a tie for 38th. Junior
Sarah Timms (94-93-89=276) finished one shot further back and
jumped from 48th into a tie for the 40th spot. Sophomore Garyt
Hamilton (89-90-100=279) finished 46th and sophomore Braiden
Furtick (101-93-94=194) rounded out the Trojan contingent in
51st.
