Women’s Golf Finishes Sixth at King University Invitational

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Anderson University women's golf team improved by two shots and finished sixth at the King University Invitational, hosted at the par 71, 5,882 yard Bristol Country Club on Tuesday.

Anderson (335-333=668) moved ahead of Barton (333-339=672), while also finishing in front of UVa-Wise (406-398=804). The Trojans trailed fifth-place Pfeiffer (334-333=667) by just one shot and Barton, which finished fourth, by only nine strokes. Limestone posted a team total 628 to win the event by a comfortable 14 strokes over second-place Mount Olive (328-314=642), which jumped from fourth to second in the two-day event. Erskine (323-327=650) began the day tied with the host Tornado (323-336=659), but slipped to third, while King finished fourth.

Senior Katie Eskew (82-83=165), and juniors Natalie Feder (83-82=165) and Sarah Timms (82-83=165) each carded a two-day total 23-over par to finish tied for 18th. Sophomore Crystal Swanson fired a two-day total 174 and tied for 28th, along with sophomore Braiden Furtick (89-85=174).

King's Elizabeth Swallow (71-71=142) claimed individual medalist honors by a 10-stroke margin over Mount Olive's Virginia Lane and Limestone's Sydney Landreth.

The Trojans return to the links on Oct. 14-15 at the Patsy Rendleman Memorial in Salisbury, N.C.
