Women’s Golf Shares Seventh Place at Agnes McAmis Memorial

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - On the strength of senior Katie Eskew's 5-over-par 77, the Anderson women's golf team finished in a three-way tie for seventh at the rain-shortened 17th annual Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf Invitational on Tuesday.

The tourney, hosted by Tusculum College at the par 72, 5805-yard Link Hills Country Club was turned into a one-day event after Monday's opening round was washed out.

Lee University (303) claimed the team victory by a one-shot margin over runner-up Carson-Newman (304), while Wingate (314) and Converse (317) finished third and fourth, respectively. King (322) was five shots further back in fifth, with the host Pioneers garnering sixth after a 325.

Anderson (327), North Greenville (327) and Shorter (327) shared the seventh spot, while Lincoln Memorial (329) rounded out the top 10 teams.

Wingate's Caitlin Starrs earned individual medalist honors after firing a 1-under-par-71 to edge Carson-Newman's Mary Tunnell by two strokes.

Eskew's effort gave her a share of ninth place on the day, while junior Sarah Timms shared 28th after a 9-over-par 81. Sophomore Garyt Hamilton notched a share of 44th after carding an 84, while fellow sophomore Braiden Furtick fired an 85 and finished in a tie for 50th. Junior Natalie Feder posted an 87 and closed the afternoon in a tie for 56th.

Next up for the Trojans is the three-day South Atlantic Conference Championship, slated for Sunday through Tuesday at the Sevierville Country Club in Sevierville, Tenn.
