SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Led by senior Katie Eskew's two-day 177, the Anderson University women's golf team sits in ninth place following second-round action on Monday at the three-day Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship, hosted at the 5,817-yard, par-72 Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn.
Wingate (325-334=659) remains the leader after two rounds,
building its' first-round five-stroke lead to 10 shots over second
place Queens (340-329=669), which vaulted from the seventh spot.
Coker (330-340=670) slipped to third after the second round, while
Newberry (340-331=671) moved to fourth. Carson-Newman (339-341=680)
and the Wolves flipped spots, with the Eagles slipping one spot to
fifth.
Catawba (340-343=683) dropped one spot to sixth, while Tusculum
(334-351=685) fell from third after Sunday's first round to seventh
entering Tuesday's final round. Monday's second round saw just one
change in the eighth-11th spots, as LMU (349-348=697) remained in
eighth, with Anderson (369-356=725) holding the ninth slot.
Lenoir-Rhyne (379-362=741) moved to 10th, with Mars Hill
(374-382=756) slipping to 11th.
Wingate's Johanna Neumann (78-79=157) and Catawba's Madison Kennedy (77-80=157) are even at the top of the individual leaderboard, three shots ahead of LMU's Sydney Gallant (78-82=160) and Coker's Taylor Dembry (77-83=160).
Eskew (92-85=177) moved from 39th to 33rd with the seven-stroke improvement, while sophomore Garyt Hamilton (89-90=179) remained in 35th after two rounds. Junior Natalie Feder (94-88=182) jumped from 48th to claim the 40th slot, while classmate Sarah Timms (94-93=187) is 48th following two rounds. Sophomore Braiden Furtick (101-93=194) rounded out the Trojan contingent in 53rd.
The final round of the three-day event is slated to get underway on Tuesday, with either an 8:30 a.m. start or a shotgun start at 11 a.m., depending on weather in the area.
