ANDERSON, S.C. - After a layoff of nearly two weeks, the Anderson University women's golf team is slated to return to the links on Sunday and Monday in Pinehurst, N.C. for Wingate's Pinehurst Challenge.
In addition to the Trojans and host Wingate, 16 teams are tentatively scheduled to compete in the two-day event, including Armstrong Atlantic State, Barton, Catawba, Coker, Converse, King (Tenn.), UNC Pembroke, Lee (Tenn.), Lenoir-Rhyne, Limestone, Lincoln Memorial, Mars Hill, Pfeiffer, Queens, USC Beaufort and Tusculum.
The Trojans finished 15th at the event a year ago, with Sarah
Timms' two-day 179 leading the Trojans' two-day effort, as she
finished in a four-way tie for 57th. Garyt Hamilton (182) finished
three shots further back and tied for 67th. Natalie Feder (189)
shared 74th a year ago, with Braiden Furtick posting a two-round
190 and tying for 76th. Arista Setro (209) finished 85th.
In their last outing, the Trojans brought home 13th at the Hilton
Head Lakes Invitational, hosted by Pfeiffer University. Furtick's
two-day 23-over-par 167 paced Anderson, while Feder and senior
Katie Eskew each carded a 171 and shared the 45th spot. Timms
finished two shots further back with a 173 and finished in a tie
for 51st. Hamilton rounded out the Trojan contingent with a 174 and
tied for 54th.
