Women’s Golf in Fifth Following Day One of AU Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. - Paced by junior Natalie Feder's eight-over par 80, the Anderson women's golf team is in fifth place following opening-round action of the AU Invitational, hosted at the par-72, 5,952 yard Cobb's Glen Country Club on Monday.

Erskine College (318) leads the tourney by one stroke over Milligan (319), while Queens (322) is in third and Converse (324) sits in fourth, 12 shots ahead of the Trojans (336). Pfeiffer (337) is one stroke further back, with Mars Hill (338) in seventh and Virginia-Wise (407) wrapping up the field in eighth.

Erskine's Rima Antous leads the chase for individual medalist honors after carding an even-par 72 and leads Converse's Ansley Vaughan (77) by five shots heading into Tuesday's final round. Milligan's Madison Smith and Queens' Shannon Fraser are tied for third after firing six-over par 78s.

Feder posted 12 pars en route to her team-best effort on the day, equaling both Antous and Fraser in that category and is tied for 10th. Senior Katie Eskew posted a consistent 41 on both the front and back nines, finishing with an 82 and is in a three-way tie for 14th. Sophomore Braiden Furtick (86) is tied for 26th, while junior Sarah Timms (88) is alone in 31st. Sophomore Garyt Hamilton (89) rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 32nd.

The tournament concludes on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
