Women’s Golf Finishes Pinehurst Challenge in 13th

PINEHURST, N.C. - Junior Natalie Feder carded a two-day total 175 to pace the Anderson women's golf team to a 13th-place finish at the Pinehurst Challenge, hosted by Wingate at the National Golf Club's 5,840-yard, par 72 layout.

Armstrong Atlantic State (315-323=638) led the two-day event wire-to-wire to claim the title in the 18-team tourney. Lee University (329-336=665) finished 27 strokes behind the Pirates, while USC Beaufort placed third after a combined 666 two-day total. UNC Pembroke (338-331=669) moved from fifth to fourth, while the host Bulldogs (334-336=670) placed fifth after winning the tournament a year ago. Queens (344-340=684) and Coker (342-352=694) flipped spots from Sunday's opening round and finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Barton (350-350=700) vaulted from a tie for 11th to eighth, with Limestone (346-355=701) and King (346-357=703) and rounding out the top 10.

Anderson (355-360=715), which stood 13th following Sunday's first round, wrapped up the tournament 11 shots behind 11th-place Lincoln Memorial (349-55=704) and six strokes behind Converse (357-352=709), which jumped from 14th to the 12th slot. The Trojans finished two shots ahead of Catawba and nine in front of Tusculum.

Feder (89-86=175) trimmed three shots from her opening-round score and moved from 47th to 39th, while sophomore Braiden Furtick (90-88=178) jumped from 58th to a share of 50th. Senior Katie Eskew (89-92=181) and junior Sarah Timms (87-94=181) shared 58th, with sophomore Arista Setro slashing 10 strokes from her opening-round score to post a two-day 206 and finished in a tie for 84th.

Armstrong's Jenna Birch (76-78=154) claimed individual medalist honors, with teammates Kristen Sammarco (79-77=156) and Kiley Mettler (77-81=158) finishing just behind in second and third, respectively. Queens' Grace Glaze (76-82=154), who was even with Birch following Monday's first round, slipped into a tie for third with Mettler.

The Trojans are scheduled to get back on the links on April 7-8 at Tusculum's Agnes McAmis Memorial at the Link Hills Country Club Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
