No. 2 Catawba Scores Hard-Earned Late Goal To Defeat Trojans; 1-0

Salisbury, N.C. – Anderson University women's soccer (7-4-2, 5-2-2 SAC) relinquished a hard-earned late goal to fall to No. 2 Catawba (14-0, 9-0 SAC), 1-0, on Saturday evening at Frock Field.

"Really proud of the way the team battled and overcame adversity," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "Victoria McGovern had a great performance to help keep us in the game."

The Trojans kept the nation-leading offensive attack in check for 82 minutes of play, before Catawba could slip the ball past AU senior keeper on a deflected free kick ball, just outside the goal box, to put the Lady Indians ahead, 1-0, with under eight minutes to play.

AU's McGovern had a phenomenal night between the posts, collecting 10 saves against the most potent offense in the country.

Anderson will step out of conference action on Wednesday when it welcomes Clayton State to Spero Financial Field. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
