Trojans Offensive Fire Power Proves Too Much For Tusculum; 7-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer (5-3-1, 4-1-1 SAC) saw results from its relentless pursuit scoring a season-high seven goals on its way to a, 7-0, victory over South Atlantic Conference opponent Tusculum (1-7-1, 1-5-0 SAC) on Wednesday evening at Spero Financial Field.

"We are glad to see the score reflect a great team performance on the field," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We spent the last two training sessions working on finishing and saw it translate to the game today."

"We will look to carry the momentum into Saturday," added Jacobs.

The Trojans outshot the Pioneers 34-3 in the lopsided win. Of the 34 shots, 23 came on goal. AU also took 12 corner kicks to Tusculum's one.

The Pioneers were able to hold the Trojans at bay until late in the first half when graduate McKenna Farlarski opened up the scoring with her third goal of the season. Freshman Madison Bowling (assisted by Leanna Guion) scored her first career goal to give the Black and Gold a, 2-0, edge.

Anderson continued its attack in the second half of action with freshman Kaitlyn Gregory scoring the next three goals in a row for her first career hat trick. Gregory's goals were assisted by sophomore Meggie Powell, sophomore Catherine Nardella and freshman Sophie Lodovici.

Freshman Mary Krieger (assisted by Callie Davis) scored her second goal of the season in the 82nd minute while freshman Kaky Sears put the final ball into the back of the net in the 88th minute, scoring her first career goal as a Trojan.

All three AU goalies saw action with senior Victoria McGovern earning the win. Junior Macy McDufford logged 30 minutes while freshman Arriel Frey logged the final 15 minutes of the match.
