Trojans Draw With Mars Hill; 1-1

Mars Hill, N.C. – Riding a four match win streak, Anderson University women's soccer (6-3-2,5-1-2 SAC) South Atlantic Conference road trip to Mars Hill (3-4-4, 1-4-3 SAC) ends in a draw on Wednesday evening at Meares Stadium.

"We are disappointed to not come out with a win tonight," said head coach Sarah Jacobs.

"We have to do a better job of putting away chances against quality opponents," emphasized Jacobs. "However, I am happy with the effort and fight displayed in the second half."

Anderson struck first in the 40th minute of play when freshman Kaitlyn Gregory connected with sophomore Kylie Swanson.

The Trojans defended the 1-0 lead for 73 minutes of the match, before Mars Hill scored the equalizer. The Lions Anise Mahathirath and Alyssa Kuhl teamed up to even the score at one apiece.

AU outshot the Lions 19-8 with six shots coming on goal. The Black and Gold also took five more corner kicks than Mars Hill.

Senior Victoria McGovern recorded three saves in 90 minutes of play.

Anderson will step out of conference play when it welcomes nonconference opponent Lander on Wednesday, October 18th. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
