Trojans Earn Fourth Straight Win With Victory Over Coker; 3-1

Hartsville, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer (5-3-1,4-1-1 SAC) won its fourth straight contest defeating South Atlantic Conference opponent Coker (5-5-0, 2-5-0 SAC) on Saturday evening at Coker Athletic Field.

"We are happy about a solid result and glad to finish on two corners," said head coach Sarah Jacobs.

"We are looking to continue this winning streak as we head into fall break next week," added Jacobs.

Anderson opened the scoring up in the seventh minute of play when sophomore Meggie Powell connected with senior Lina Powell. Powell struck from long distance finding the upper left corner.

The Trojans scored two more times in the first half with sophomore Carley Keuffer (38th minute) and senior Bethany Anderson (42nd minute) both cleaning up loose balls in front of the goal.

Coker was able to score in the 72nd minute to avoid being shut out by the Black and Gold.

Anderson outshot the Cobras 18 – 4 with nine shots coming on goal. All four of Coker's shots were on frame. The Trojans dominated the corner kick column with 12 corner's to Coker's nil.

Senior AU keeper Victoria McGovern logged all 45 minutes in goal and recorded one save, while junior Macy McDufford earned two saves in the final 45 minutes of action.

Anderson will remain on the road to face SAC opponent Mars Hill on Wednesday. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
