BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Maribeth Novak had two assists to lead Lees-McRae to a 2-0 victory over the Anderson University in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday night at Tate Field. Lees-McRae is now 10-8 overall and 3-7 in the conference, while Anderson drops to 3-11-1, 2-6-1. The game was scoreless until the 87th minute when Vickie Rich received a through pass from Novak and beat the keeper top shelf to give the Lady Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Lees-McRae added an insurance goal in the 90th minute when Jessica O'Leary chipped over the keeper for the goal. The scoring opportunity came on a Lady Bobcat counter attack when Novak picked up a loose ball and played a through pass to O'Leary. The Lady Bobcats outshot the Lady Trojans 14-8 and had nine shots on frame compared to four for AU.
