Lady Trojans, St. Andrews Battle To Draw

LAURINBURG, N.C. -- Senior Kerrie Brown scored a first-half goal for host St. Andrews Presbyterian College and senior Virginia Cates scored in the second half for Anderson University as the two teams played to a 1-1 double overtime tie in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action Saturday afternoon. The Lady Knights maintain a 4-5-3 overall and 1-4-2 conference record, while the Lady Trojans are 2-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the conference. Brown has two goals on the season. St. Andrews took six shots in the first half. AU starting goalkeeper junior Alyssa Stephens made two saves in the opening half. Cates knotted the score at 1-1 with her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 51st minute. Cates got a hold of a loose ball in the SAPC box and took a low shot that went under Knights starting goalie Garrison Burton for the equalizer.
