Mars Hill Rallies Past AU

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Abby Martin had a goal and an assist in the final 20 minutes to lead Mars Hill to a 3-1 victory over Anderson University in a non-conference match Wednesday night at Smethers Field. "I thought our defensive effort was good front to back," said Anderson head coach Jason Dowiak. "We created some chances with some pressure. We just have to learn how to finish. I thought Larissa (Fedorowich) showed a lot of senior leadership tonight." Mars Hill, 5-4-3 overall, took a 1-0 lead at the 43:10 when Frankie Armstrong took a pass from Misha Price and scored on a breakaway. Anderson, 2-6 overall, tied the match at the 68:24 mark when Katelyn Conover took a pass from Kristin Page and found the upper right corner of the Mars Hill net. Alicia Blaha scored what proved to be the game winner off an assist from Martin at the 70:00 mark. Martin scored her goal at 81:27 when she scored on a rebound after her first shot was stopped by Anderson goalkeeper Alyssa Stephens. Becca Sellars made two saves to earn the victory in the net for Mars Hill. Mars Hill outshot Anderson, 15-5. Anderson University Women's Soccer Statistics
