Women’s Golf to Compete at 44th Annual Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following a ninth-place showing two weeks ago at the Battle at Hilton Head, the Anderson University women's golf team is set to resume its' spring slate at the 44th Annual Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational.

Rollins College is hosting the two-day event, Monday and Tuesday, at the Golden Bear Club at Keene's Pointe in Windermere, Fla., for the third consecutive year.

Teams will play two rounds on Monday, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round is slated for 8:30 a.m., Tuesday.

Sixteen of the last 19 eventual national champions have played in the tourney prior to winning the NCAA D-II Championship in May. Florida Tech, which claimed the national championship a year ago, also won this tourney a year ago.

The 2020 PKB features the largest field in the tournament's history, with 117 players from 20 different schools. Seven of the top-10 ranked teams in the current Golf Stat rankings headline the field. Top-ranked Nova Southeastern, No. 3 Tampa, No. 4 Rollins and No. 5 Barry enter as early favorites. Sixth-ranked Dallas Baptist, ninth-ranked Florida Southern and No. 10 Wingate are also top teams.

Sophomore Victoria Hall has paced the Trojans this year with a 76.60 unadjusted stroke average and posted three top-13 finishes, including a fifth-place performance at the AU Invitational. Hall carded a team-low 71 in the second round of the St. Leo Invitational in mid-October. Junior Anna Freeman claimed individual honors at the AU Invitational and is close behind Hall with a 76.70 unadjusted stroke average. The Aiken, S.C., native also captured a top-10 finish by claiming eighth place at the St. Leo Invitational and equaled Hall's 13th-place finish two weeks ago. Freshman Emma Charles owns a 77.70 unadjusted stroke average through 10 rounds, while capturing third place at the AU Invitational and garnering a share of 17th place at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational.

This week marks AU's first appearance at the tourney.
