Women’s Golf in First Place Following Opening Round of AU Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – A tournament-best 2-over-par 74 from sophomore Kerington Lamb propelled the Anderson women's golf team into first place following opening-round action at the AU Invitational, Monday at the 5,863 yard, par-72 Cobb's Glen Country Club layout.

"We are happy to be leading on a sub-par day" said Anderson head coach Danny Neal. "It was a great round by Kerington [Lamb] with a 74. The rest of team showed a lot of grit to finish rounds in tough conditions."

The host Trojans lead Catawba by 14 shots entering Tuesday's final round, with Limestone (B) one shot further back in third place. Emmanuel holds the fourth slot, while Belmont Abbey shares fifth place with Southern Wesleyan.

Erskine, Converse and Bob Jones University finished out the nine-team field, with Spartanburg Methodist having three players in the two-day tourney.

Lamb holds a one-shot lead over both teammate Anna Freeman (75) and Catawba's Sandra Brink (75) heading into Tuesday's final round. Erskine's Anna Parramore is two shots off the pace, with five additional golfers within four strokes of Lamb, including the AU freshman duo of Emma Charles and Taylor Palmer.

Senior Kate Hill carded an 80 and is tied for 12th place, while sophomore Victoria Hall (81) is tied for 15th.

Tuesday's second round is slated to get underway at 8:30 a.m.
