ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Behind a two-day, 8-over-par performance from sophomore Kerington Lamb, the Anderson University women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule with a 10th-place finish, Tuesday at the 17th Annual Flagler Fall Slam.
The Saints hosted the 36-hole, two-day tournament at the par 72 6,062 yard, Marsh Creek Country Club.
Seminole State claimed the team title by nine strokes over runner-up Wingate, while five-time tourney champion, Barry, was six strokes further back in third place. Limestone finished fourth, with Missouri – St. Louis and Mount Olive finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. The host Saints were seventh, while Lenoir-Rhyne claimed eighth place.
Columbus State finished in ninth place, with the Trojans just one shot further back in 10th. Embry-Riddle and Catawba shared the 11th spot, while Carson-Newman, Eastern Florida State, Queens, Eckerd and Converse rounded out the 17-team field.
"We were disappointed with yesterday's round of 314, but glad to come back with a better round today," said Anderson head coach Danny Neal. "The ladies stayed focused and never gave up in the round. We did get a couple of good head-to-head wins over conference opponents."
Emma Thorngren (72-68=140), from Missouri – St. Louis, claimed individual medalist honors by one stroke over Barry's Noemie Pare (71-70=141), with Eckerd's Laila Fortsmane (70-75=145) and Seminole State's Minori Nagano (72-73=145) finishing in a tie for third place.
Lamb fired a pair of 4-over-par 76s on her way to her best two-round score of the fall and finished in a tie for 18th. Sophomore Victoria Hall carded a two-day 154 and finished in a five-way tie for 26th place. Junior Anna Freeman and freshman Emma Charles shared 54th place, with senior Kate Hill trimming nine strokes off Monday's opening round and jumping nine spots to finish in a tie for 70th.
