Women’s Golf Heads to Sunshine State for Saint Leo Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's golf team will head south this week to the Sunshine State for the two-day Saint Leo Invitational for the first time in school history. The Lions will host the two-day tourney at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club adjacent to their campus.

Monday's first round will feature a shotgun start at 2 p.m., with Tuesday's second round featuring an 8:30 a.m. start with split tee times on Lake Jovita's South Course on a par-72, 6,105 yard layout.

Among the teams expected to compete for the title are Saint Leo (no. 8), Florida Southern (no. 15), Tampa (no. 16), Rollins (no. 13), Palm Beach Atlantic, Eckerd, West Florida, Anderson and Central Missouri (no. 25).

The Trojans are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 11th-place finish at last week's Patsy Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C.

Freshman Emma Charles' season-best 2-over-par second round highlighted the Black and Gold's outing, as the Hartsville, S.C., native finished tied for 17th place, with sophomore Victoria Hall sharing 37th place. Junior Anna Freeman finished tied for 44th place, while senior Kate Hill shared the 66th slot. Sophomore Kerington Lamb claimed a tie 72nd place.

Charles and Lamb have each fired 74s on the season, with Freeman and Hall each carding rounds of 75 last month at the AU Invitational. Charles owns an unadjusted 76.50 stroke average through four rounds, while Freeman is just behind with a 76.75 adjusted stroke average through the two fall tourneys. Hall is third on the squad with a 77.50 unadjusted stroke average.
