SALISBURY, N.C. – Paced by sophomore Victoria Hall's 3-over-par 75, the Anderson University women's golf team is tied for 10th place following opening-round action, Monday at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational.
Catawba is hosting the 36-hole event at the 5,973 yard, par-72 Country Club of Salisbury.
The host Indians lead the 16-team field by one shot over both Limestone and Lenoir-Rhyne, which are tied for second. Mount Olive is fourth, with Queens in fifth place following Monday's first round. UNC Pembroke and Tusculum share the sixth spot, while Coker and Lander are eighth and ninth, respectively.
The Trojans share 10th place with Montevallo, while Young Harris, Belmont Abbey, Erskine, King and North Greenville round out the field.
Catawba's Kaley Barts (67) is alone atop the individual leaderboard, three shots in front of Coker's Alicia Fajardo and Lenoir-Rhyne's Ainee O'Connor, while four additional golfers are lurking within just five strokes of the lead.
Hall equaled her season-best round with the 75 and is in a seven-way tie for 16th heading into Tuesday's final round. Freshman Emma Charles also equaled her season-best round with a 5-over 77 and shares 31st place, with junior Anna Freeman carding a 6-over 78 and sharing 40th place. Senior Kate Hill (79) is tied for 50th place, while sophomore Kerington Lamb (82) is tied for 66th place.
The second and final round is slated to get underway Tuesday morning.
