Women's Soccer Drops Decision at North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- In its second of four matches in an eight-day span, the Anderson women's soccer team fell, 5-0, to North Georgia in non-conference action at the NGCSU Soccer Complex Monday afternoon. "The result certainly doesn't reflect the effort," said Anderson head coach Jason Dowiak. "Since this was a non-conference match, we took the opportunity to rest some people with nagging injuries. The loss was a little disappointing, but our defenders played well and Alyssa Stephens played well in goal." Anderson (3-7) had its' two-match win streak snapped, while North Georgia (5-3-2) claimed its first win since Sept. 15. The Trojans recorded two second-half shots on goal, while North Georgia recorded a season-high 26. The Lady Saints were awarded 10 corner kicks in the game to the Trojans one, which came in the final minute of the contest. Anderson goalkeeper Alyssa Stephens went the distance for the Trojans, recording 10 saves in the game. Kirsten Ross notched her first shutout in goal for North Georgia, picking up one save in 90 minutes of action. Anderson will get back on the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when the Trojans play host to South Atlantic Conference foe-Newberry at the AU Soccer Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
