ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University head women's soccer coach Abby Crumpton announced the addition of five more players Friday. "We are really excited with the addition of our new players," said Crumpton, who is entering her second season at Anderson. "We will have a lot more depth than we had last season, as well as some added athleticism." We are really looking forward to the fall." The five new players are forward Brooke Jackson (Union, S.C.), midfielder Katelyn Conover (Simpsonville, S.C.), midfielder/forward Kelli Johnson (Arvada, Colo.), midfielder/defender Lisa Taylor (Auburn, N.Y.), and forward/midfielder Marisa Gray (Columbus, Ga.). Jackson was a multi-sport athlete at Union High School. "She is a tenacious attacker and doesn't let anyone get in her way," Crumpton said. "She has a knack for finding the back of the net." Conover was an all-state cross country runner at Shannon Forest Christian School. "Katelyn will do very well for us at outside midfield," Crumpton said. "She has the endurance to run all day on the outside." Crumpton likes Johnson's competitiveness. "Kelli is a gritty player who has a great sense for the game," Crumpton said. "She always seems to be in the right place at the right time. She is a great combination player." Taylor is a former junior college All-American selection. "Lisa has a tremendous work rate and is a great defender," Crumpton said. "She has great size and will be a force in the back." Crumpton calls Gray a "super-athletic" player. "She will do damage wherever she plays," she said. "She has a lot of potential and has the speed and athleticism to play anywhere on the field." Forward Brooke Jackson Union, SC High School: Union H.S "Brooke is a multi-sport athlete at her high school and her athleticism shows that. She is a tenacious attacker and doesn't let anyone get in her way and has a knack for finding the back of the net. She has tremendous untapped potential. We are really excited to have her on our squad and are looking forward to seeing her develop her game even more." Midfielder Katelyn Conover Simpsonville, SC High School: Shannon Forest Christian School Club: Foothills "Katelyn is another multi-sport athlete and is a gifted runner. She was an all-state cross country performer in 2006. She will do very well for us at outside midfield. She has the endurance to run all day on the outside. She has a great attitude and work rate and has the ability to give us a 90 minute performance." Midfielder/Forward Kelli Johnson Arvada, CO High School: Faith Christian Academy Club: Broomfield "Kelli Johnson is a solid addition for our team. She is a competitive, gritty player who has a great sense for the game. She is always in the right place at the right time. She works hard on both sides of the ball and is a great combination player. We were lucky to find Kelli." Midfielder/Defender Lisa Taylor Auburn, NY Cayuga Community College "We are very excited to have Lisa Taylor. Lisa is a former junior college All American from upstate New York. She has a tremendous work rate and is a great defender but also has the ability to attack out of the back. She has great size and will be a force to be reckoned with in the back. Forward/Midfielder/Defender Marisa Gray Columbus, GA Columbus Redstars "Marisa is a super - athletic player who will do some damage wherever she plays. She has a lot of potential and has the speed and athleticism to play anywhere on the field. She was a solid find for us and we are excited to see the different dynamic she will bring to our team."
