GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Elise Goldy helped new Lander head coach Chris Ayer notch his first victory as she recorded a hat trick to lead the Lady Bearcats to a 4-2 non-conference victory over Anderson University Saturday afternoon. Lander improves to 1-0 on the season, while Anderson starts the 2006 campaign at 0-1. Goldy gave Lander a 1-0 lead on an assist from Sarah Burnett at the 3:51 mark, then she scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 69:10 mark. She completed the hat trick at the 88:41 mark. Anderson tied the game at 5:44 on a goal by Clary McCord off an assist from Amanda English. The Lady Bearcats took a 2-1 lead at 28:51 when Aisha Reid found the back of the net on an unassisted goal. The Lady Trojans tied the game at 2-2 on Larrisa Fedorowich's unassisted score at 45:42. Lander goalkeeper Rachael Hine recorded two saves, while Anderson's Kelli Whitfield and Jen Shideler had three saves apiece. Lander outshot Anderson, 12-5, and had four corner kicks to Anderson's three.
