Mars Hill Blanks Lady Trojans

HICKORY, N.C. -- Jasmine Riley and Riley Dorsey led Mars Hill to a 6-0 victory over Anderson University Sunday afternoon at the SAC/CVAC Challenge. The duo scored two goals apiece in the win. MHC improves to 3-1 on the season, while the Lady Trojans fall to 0-2. Dorsey scored the first goal in the match from a pass by Caity Murnahan at the 12:39 mark. Riley then scored her first goal of the match at the 21:42 mark on a breakaway to make the score 2-0. Riley added her second goal in the contest at the 30:28 mark on a through ball from Stefanie Hampton. The Lions went into the locker room with a 3-0 advantage. Five minutes into the second half, Amber Rasasack scored off a cross from Tabatha Woodson to extend the Lions' lead to 4-0. Dorsey added her second goal of the match at the 60:43 mark off a lead pass from Amy Brock. Murnahan ended the scoring in the 71st minute on a successful penalty kick. MHC out shot Anderson, 17-3. Claudia Cala and Shannon Higgins split time in goal for MHC. Cala played 54:05 and made one save, while Higgins guarded the net the final 35:55 and also made one stop.
