Delancey Named First Team All-CVAC

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Megan Delancey of the Anderson University women's soccer team was named first-team All-CVAC Friday night. Delancey, a 5-foot-10 senior defender from Orlando, Fla., is the first Anderson women's soccer player to be named to the league's first team since AU joined the CVAC in 1999. Delancey is a three-time All-CVAC selection. She received honorable mention honors in 2004 and 2005. "Megan has been a great player for Anderson University," said Anderson head coach Abby Crumpton. "As a central defender, her size, speed, and ability helped us stay in games and helped us win games. She was extremely coachable. She played well wherever we put her. "She was such a such a threat to opposition because she had the ability to hit the long ball, she was great in the air, physical, fiesty, and she could score goals. One of her greatest assets was the ability to attack out of the back and be a force to be reckoned with at the other end of the field." In 17 matches, Delancey scored two goals and had four assists. She had two game-winning goals for the Lady Trojans, including a Golden Goal against Coker on Oct. 21. "Megan was a pleasure to coach," Crumpton said. "She is a great player and a great person. She cares about her teammates and friends, has a great work ethic, and has shown great leadership with her intensity and passion for the game. She set a high standard for future players at Anderson."
