Pfeiffer Gets Past Lady Trojans, 1-0

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Pfeiffer's Megan Blevins scored the lone goal of the match at 63:35 to give Pfeiffer a 1-0 victory over Anderson University in a CVAC match Wednesday afternoon at Smethers Field. "We did a decent job of containing their attack and forcing them to the middle," said Anderson head coach Abby Crumpton. "It's a loss but it was a good result for us because they're second in the conference and they have beaten several teams by significant margins. "It could have been 5-0 but for us to keep them to one goal with no subs on the bench is great work. I commend our players for their focus." Anderson goalkeeper Kelli Whitfield made a career-high 19 saves as the Lady Trojans continuously frustrated Pfeiffer's high-powered attack. "Kelli had a great game in goal," Crumpton said. She really came up big for us." After missing several chances, Pfeiffer finally broke through when Katrina Salem pushed a pass from the left across the box to Blevins, who chipped the ball across the goal mouth and into the lower left corner. Pfeiffer improves to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the CVAC, while Anderson drops to 4-8, 2-5. 2006 Anderson Women's Soccer Statistics
