Men’s Soccer Falls at Coker; 2-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer was unable to pull off the late rally falling to Coker in their opening match of South Atlantic Conference action.

The narrow setback gives the Trojans its first loss of the season as they moved to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in SAC play. With the victory, the Cobras moved to 2-1-1 and 1-0 within the conference.

Anderson scored first at the 38:29 mark on freshman's Austin Fain's first career goal, assisted by Magnus Einarsson, to give the Trojans the early 1-0 lead. Coker answered back just one minute before the half ended on a scramble in front of the goal with Coker's Aladdin Elfares receiving credit to tie the match up at 1-1.

Just four minutes into the second half, Coker was awarded a penalty kick that found the back of the net to put the Cobras ahead 2-1 which turned out to be the game winner.

On a night that saw five yellow cards, Coker outshot Anderson 14-11 for the game with each taking four corner kicks.

Senior goalie Devon Ashy (3-1) recorded five saves in 90 minutes of action.
