Men’s Soccer Wins on the Road at Catawba; 1-0

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Anderson University men's soccer team used a 54th minute game-winner from Colin Burris to propel the Trojans to a 1-0 victory over Catawba in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday evening at Frock Soccer Stadium.

The win gives the Trojans their first conference victory of the 2016 season while also extending the all-time record against the Indians to 6-0-1. Anderson improves to 5-5-2 overall and 1-5-2 in SAC action. After winning its six previous matches, the loss drops Catawba to 8-4 and 5-3 in conference play.

The first half was played scoreless with Anderson narrowly outshooting the Indians 4-2 with corner kicks and saves deadlocked at three and one, respectively.

The evenly matched contest continued into the second half when Burris was able to find the back of the net for his first career goal and eventual game-winner.

Catawba recorded six of its total 10 shots in the final 22 minutes of the match with senior keeper Devon Ashy being credited with two of his four saves during that span. The Black and Gold's backline kept the Indians off balance and fended off each attack with determination to secure the victory.

Anderson returns to action at home when it host SAC opponent Queens on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Trojan Stadium.
