Du Plooy Earns AstroTurf Player of the Week Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University standout midfielder Brad Du Plooy has been named the South Atlantic Conference's men's soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Du Plooy contributed directly to two of Anderson's 4 goals last week, scoring one goal and handing out one assist. Du Plooy played 102 minutes in a double overtime, 2-1, win over Lees-McRae followed by a 79 minute outing against Flagler. During the Trojans 2-1 victory over the Saints, Du Plooy served up a perfect pass to teammate Gabriel Homem who drilled the ball into the back of the net from 30 yards out to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead in the contest. Du Plooy and the rest of the Trojans' tough play has led Anderson to its perfect 2-0 start.

The native of Johannesburg, South Africa becomes only the second player to claim the SAC Player of the Weeks honors since Lasse Sohrweide did it twice in 2011.

Du Plooy and the rest of the Trojans jump back into action on Wednesday when they travel to Shorter. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
