Victory Never Felt So Good; Goodman Scores Twice for Trojans to Put Away Erskine

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's soccer team could not have won at a better time, snapping both a four match losing streak while defeating rival Erskine to gain a valuable point for the Trojans towards the coveted Beville Cup.

With the win, Anderson improves to 4-4 overall while Erskine drops to 5-2 on the year. The Black and Gold's all-time record with the Flying Fleet now moves to an impressive 8-2-4.

The Flying Fleet were able to get on the scoreboard first at the 16:20 mark in the first half on a pass from Cameron Whitehurst to Kacper Zac with Zac scoring his second goal of the season.

Opening the second half of play, Erskine took four straight shots with two of those coming on goal, before Anderson recorded its first shot of the second half at the 50:50 mark, which resulted in the tying goal. Freshman Austin Fain gathered the ball midfield with his back to the goal and served a perfect ball over his head to classmate Landon Goodman who sprinted past the defenders to have a one on one opportunity with Erskine's keeper Arias Martin. Goodman drilled the ball past Martin for the equalizer.

Less than nine minutes later, sophomore Cullen Jackson found the hot foot of Goodman who punched in his third goal of the season and what turned out to be his second game winner of the year.

For the Black and Gold, senior keeper Devon Ashy recorded four saves while picking up his fourth win of the season.

The Trojans return to action when they head out for a two match road trip beginning in Jefferson City, Tenn. on Saturday when they faceoff with South Atlantic Conference opponent Carson-Newman. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
