Trojans Fall in Double Overtime at Carson-Newman; 2-1

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – After the Anderson University men's soccer team drew the score even in the 76th minute, the Trojans were unable to hold off Carson-Newman in double overtime losing, 2-1, Saturday evening at McCown Field.

Ashley Kelynak's golden goal with just under five minutes remaining in the second overtime period gave the Eagles their fifth victory on the season and moved the Eagles to 2-3 in South Atlantic Conference play. With the setback, Anderson moves to 4-5 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.

After a scoreless opening half, Carson-Newman found the scoreboard first when Tom Read scored in the 65th minute.

Anderson struck back at the 76th minute when sophomore Cameron Emerson scored his first career goal for the Black and Gold to even the score at 1-1.

The two teams played the next 29 minutes scoreless, until Kelynak found the back of the net in double overtime to end the match.

The Trojans will continue play on the road when they travel to SAC opponent Newberry on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
