Tusculum Scores Late Goal to Defeat the Trojans

ANDERSON, S.C. – A late goal by No. 18 Tusculum dashes Anderson's efforts to pull off the upset Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

With the loss, Anderson falls to 3-4 overall and 0-4 in South Atlantic Conference action while Tusculum improves to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

The Pioneers opened the match firing away at the goal but solid play, not only in the opening minutes, but all match long by the Black and Gold slowed their offensive attack.

Trojan senior keeper Devon Ashy recorded three saves in the first half with five saves on the day. Tusculum outshot Anderson 16-9 for the game.

Tusculum's Andre De Giorgi was around the goal all match recording eight shots with 4 coming on goal. At the 85 minute, De Giorgi received a corner pass from Dallas Dunn and hit the quick shot by Ashy for the 1-0 lead.

The Trojans continued to press and were able to get two shots off in the last minute and a half with Landon Goodman having a try as timed expired.

Anderson return to action at home on Tuesday when it welcome nonconference rival Erskine to Trojan Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
