Trojans Defeat Shorter 1-0 to Remain Perfect on the Season

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer is off to one of its best starts, since the 2013-14 season, by moving to 3-0 with a 1-0 win Wednesday evening at Grizzard Park.

Preseason All-SAC honoree and SAC Player of the Week Brad du Plooy continued his outstanding play scoring the lone goal of the match at the 28:55 mark giving him his second goal of the season.

Despite being outshot 20-8, the Black and Gold managed to keep the ball out of their net with solid team defense and a tremendous performance in goal by senior Devon Ashy. Ashy recorded eight saves on the night while earning his first shutout of the 2016 season.

The Trojans begin South Atlantic Conference play when they travel to Coker next Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field in Hartsville.
