Trojans Play To 2-2 Draw with Lenoir-Rhyne

WELLFORD, S.C. – After each team notched goals in both the opening half and the second half, scoring was halted for the remaining two 10 minutes overtime periods as Anderson University men's soccer played to a 2-2 draw with Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday evening at the Upward Stars Center.

Trojan freshman Shinya Nagata recorded his first career goal in the 16th minute when sophomore Cameron Emerson found Nagata's foot for the score.

Before the Anderson goal, Lenoir-Rhyne's and SAC leader for goals scored Ismael Noumansana struck quick within the 3rd minute of the opening half. Following Nagata's goal, Noumansana punched in his 14th goal of the season in the 21st minute to give the Bears a 2-1 lead heading into the half.

The Trojans scored the equalizer in the 75 minute of the second half on a goal by freshman Magnus Einarsson assisted by Landon Goodman. Einarsson's goal was the first of his career wearing the Black and Gold uniform.

Lenoir-Rhyne outshot Anderson 24-18 for the game and 12-5 in the overtime periods with the Trojans holding an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior keeper Devon Ashy recorded eight saves on the night giving the Greenville native a total of 49 on the year.

For the Black and Gold, the draw was there second in a row while still looking for their first conference win of the season.

Anderson returns to action when it travels to SAC foe Catawba. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30p p.m.
