Hannon Named Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. –Anderson University men's soccer head coach Michael Zion has announced the hiring of Alan Hannon as the team's new assistant coach, announced by Zion on Thursday.

Hannon played for Shelbourne FC in Dublin, Ireland and graduated from Colaiste Ide before coming to school at Belhaven University. Hannon was a four-year starter at Belhaven and served as the team captain as a senior while also being named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. Hannon was an all-conference performer in each of his four seasons. Following his career at Belhaven, he played in the PDL for MS Brilla from 2009-2014.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Alan, into the Trojan Family," Zion said. Alan has a wealth of experience and coaching success to bring to the table. He is passionate about the game and has a deep respect for the student athlete. He will only continue to build upon the success of the program and what we are trying to achieve."

Currently, Alan holds his USSF National "B" License and National Youth License. Hannon coached for Mississippi Rush and was Academy Director at Jackson Futbol Club. Hannon served as the assistant women's soccer coach at Holmes CC from 2012-14. Hannon has also served as an assistant with the men's team at Mississippi College helping lead the team earn GVAC 2016 regular season champions.

Hannon earned his Bachelor's degree in International Studies and he minored in business administration at Belhaven. Hannon earned his Masters of Athletic Administration at Mississippi College.

AU is currently in its spring, non-championship season and will return to the pitch this fall beginning in early September.
