Trojans Fall at Home to Wingate; 3-1

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer drops its second straight match falling to South Atlantic Conference powerhouse Wingate on Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

The loss drops the Trojans to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in SAC play while the Bulldogs move to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference action.

Wingate was able to jump on the scoreboard first at the 28:08 mark when an Anderson player miskicked the ball towards its own goal and Bulldog Elma N'For took the errant pass and shot it past senior Devon Ashy for the 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs continued to attack scoring again at the 31:58 mark to go into halftime with a 2-0 lead with Wingate outshooting the Trojans 10-3 in the first half.

Ten minutes into the second half, N'For controlled the loose ball in front of the goal and drilled it into the back of the net putting the Bulldogs up, 3-0.

The contest proved to be very physical with 40 fouls being called between the two schools. The Black and Gold would not go away quietly with senior Lars Kaula scoring off of a pass from Brad du Plooy to cut into the lead, 3-1, at the 88:48. Despite gaining some momentum, the Trojans ran out of time.

For the game, Wingate outshot Anderson 16-10 with Ashy recording six saves on the afternoon.

The Trojans return to action on Wednesday when they host SAC foe Brevard. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 at Trojan Stadium.
