BELMONT, N.C. -- Kevin Valkenburg scored 59 seconds into the second overtime to give Anderson University a 1-0 victory over Belmont Abbey in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. Anderson, unbeaten in its last six matches, improves to 6-3-2 overall and 3-0-2 in the conference. Belmont Abbey falls to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference. After a scoreless 90 minutes and the first ten-minute overtime session, Valkenburg scored the only goal just 59 seconds into the second extra period off of a long shot from the left side of the box for the golden goal. Benjamin Pepion made five saves to earn his second consecutive shutout in the AU net. Anderson outshot the Abbey 13-8.
