Anderson, Limestone Battle To Tie

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University and Limestone battled to a 1-1 tie in a men's Conference Carolinas match Wednesday night at Smethers Field. Anderson, 3-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference, scored its goal at 21:59. Zach Denson took a free kick that Rayon Markland directed toward the goal. Lahnden Onger knocked it in to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. Anderson held on to the lead until 57 seconds in the match when Limestone finally got on the board. Keegan Ziada hit a free kick that Ali Benson put into the Anderson net. Neither team was able to mount a serious attack in the two overtime periods. The tie keeps Limestone unbeaten at 6-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference. Anderson took 13 shots to Limestone's five. Limestone goalkeeper Mark Davidson made seven saves, while Anderson goalkeeper Chris Skelton made two saves.
