WILSON, N.C. -- Top-seeded Mount Olive, ranked No. 1 nationally, advanced in the winners bracket of the Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament with a 19-4 victory over No. 5 seed Anderson Friday afternoon at Fleming Stadium. Mount Olive banged out 20 hits in the game. The top-ranked Trojans scored two in the first, five in the third, and nine in the fifth to build a 16-0 lead. Mount Olive was led by David Cooper, who was 5-for-6 with 3 RBI and three runs scored, and Dylan Horton, who was 4-for-5 with 2 RBI and three runs scored. Ryan Saxon and Patrick West had two hits apiece for Anderson. Mount Olive (42-4) advances to face Belmont Abbey Saturday at 1 p.m. Anderson (20-36) will face No. 7 seed Pfeiffer in an elimination game at 8 p.m. Friday.
