FLORENCE, S.C. -- Gabe McCann hit a two-run homer in the bottom of ninth inning to give Lander a 12-11 come-for-behind victory over Anderson University Sunday afternoon. Lander, trailing 11-8, entering the ninth used a walk, a single, two errors, and McCann's homer to pull out the victory. Anderson (1-7) scored three times in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead. Walt Quattlebaum had a two-run triple and then scored on a ground out to give the Trojans the lead. After Lander scored a single run in the fifth, the Trojans scored five time in the sixth to extend their lead to 9-4. The big hits in the inning were a two-run single by Blair Carson and an RBI single by Patrick West. Lander scored three runs in the seventh to cut the Anderson lead to 9-8, but the Trojans scored two runs in the eighth to extend their lead to 11-8. Carson drove home both runs in the inning with a double. Lander had 14 hits to Anderson's 11. Carson, West, and Quattlebaum all had two hits apiece for Anderson. Carson drove in four runs. Lander was led by McCann and Malcolm McLeod, who were both 4-for-5.
