ANDERSON, S.C. - Along with the Homecoming festivities on Saturday, the Anderson University men's and women's teams will be teaming up to Red Card Cancer, seeking to bring cancer awareness to the fans at Trojan Stadium.

A donation station will be set up at Trojan Stadium where fans can donate to help Red Card Cancer during both the women's and men's soccer matches against Lincoln Memorial. Members of the women's and men's teams will also be walking through the aisles of Trojan Stadium asking for donations to Red Card Cancer.

"October is cancer awareness month in our nation and we're proud that we can hold this event for the second straight year," Anderson men's soccer head coach John Murphy said. "All of us have been touched by this and to bring awareness and to receive funds to this event is outstanding, especially when we will be celebrating Homecoming at AU, where a foundation of the university is goodwill. We hope to interact with our students, alumni and those who are attending the match to make this a special event."

Donations will support cancer research initiatives at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Fans can also donate by texting REDCARD to 20222 to make a $10 pass-through donation. For more information on Red Card Cancer, visit RedCardCancer.org.

"Within our lifetime we hope to see cancer research reach unprecedented heights and eradicate the effects of the disease," AU women's soccer head coach Samar Azem said. "We each have a duty to do whatever we can to assist in the process and are grateful a foundation such as RCC gives our men's and women's program an opportunity to reach out into the community through our sport to raise funds for research and awareness. We thank the individuals that have already pledged their support and appreciate the contributions of those who plan to. We would also like to specifically send a special message of love and support from our program to those who have lost loved ones to cancer and especially those who have fought or are fighting cancer."

The women's soccer team will kickoff the doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the men's team will begin at 3:30 p.m. or immediately following the Homecoming ceremonies.
