HICKORY, N.C. - Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Neipp recorded 10 saves, but Anderson University women's soccer was unable to find the back of the net as Lenoir-Rhyne defeated the Trojans 2-0 Saturday afternoon at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.

With the setback, AU dropped to 2-6-4 overall and 1-2-4 in the South Atlantic Conference with four conference contests remaining in the regular season. Neipp records double-digit saves for the first time since the season opener against nationally ranked Rollins, where the senior posted 13. The Anderson, S.C. native now has 75 saves in 10 matches played on the year.

Lenoir-Rhyne (8-2-1, 5-0-1) opened scoring in the 37th minute when Emmi Dunn fired in a shot past Neipp from a Lizzie McNamara corner. For Dunn, the goal was her fourth of the season as L-R posted four corners for the match.

The Bears, who remains unbeaten in SAC play, posted their insurance goal in the 65th minute when Leah Mullins tallied her sixth goal of the season when she corralled the ball off a Miranda Simon shot. Simon put the ball over Neipp's head and off the crossbar, but deflected right to Mullins for the goal.

Offensively, freshman Helena Moore led the way with four shots, but classmate Tera Dolan recorded the lone shot on goal for AU on the match in the 11th minute. L-R outshot the Trojans 22-9 for the match, as Neipp tallied five saves in each period. AU had its opportunities as the team earned five corner kicks and L-R committed 10 fouls.

"Lenoir-Rhyne is a solid team and they did well to score their two goals," head coach Samar Azem said. "We are excited to reconnect some dots and get our confidence about us again. We did well to build in the final third on certain plays and the next step is capitalizing on those opportunities and we must have a great ambition to win. Once we do that, anything is possible with our team."

Anderson returns to its non-conference slate on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when its hosts Emmanuel College. Kickoff from Trojan Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
