MARS HILL, N.C. - Despite winning the shots category 22-15, Anderson University women's soccer was unable to find a game-winner as it records its second consecutive South Atlantic Conference tie, playing Mars Hill to a scoreless draw Saturday afternoon at Meares Stadium.

With the tie, the Trojans remain unbeaten in SAC play moving to 1-0-3 in the conference and 2-3-3 overall. The tie also matches last season's total in draws with three, the highest mark since joining the SAC in 2010.

Senior Kaitlyn Neipp made eight saves on the afternoon while she earns her second complete clean sheet on the season. With the shutout, Neipp now carries 18.4 career shutouts as she remains in 10th all-time in SAC history. For the season, the Anderson, S.C. native has played over 783 minutes with 56 saves.

Freshman Helena Moore paced the offense with seven shots with three on goal to lead the team with senior Krystal Goss following with four. Freshmen Emily Perez, Tera Dolan and Madison Taylor each had two shots with Perez leading the trio as both of her shots went on goal.

Anderson was unable to capitalize on its chances as the Trojans notched 18 corners for the match, including seven in the second half. In the first overtime period, Moore was able to get a header on a Goss cross, which she scored on, but was called back for an Anderson foul inside the Lion box.

"We need to come better prepared to play and to compete," head coach Samar Azem said. "Mars Hill did both and credit to them."

Mars Hill's leading goal scorer Rachel Weber, who entered the match with all of MHU's goals on the season, was held in check by AU's backline, led by redshirt sophomore Faith Johannes and freshman Corinne Doll. Weber finished the match with three shots with two troubling Neipp.

Anderson returns to its non-conference slate on Tuesday, Oct. 1 when it hosts Columbus State. Kickoff from Trojan Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
